Alone and Far Away by Giampaolo Antoni
This shot is part of a series dedicated to lonely trees. The “Soli” project was born from the desire to represent the immobile and solemn strength of solitary trees. These trees, with their static resistance, oppose the passage of time and the elements. They may seem still, but they are actually in slow and constant change, which underlies the greatest design of nature that asks them to stay where they are, to remind us that life goes on well beyond our limited existences. Alone and far away, yet in a relationship with the whole, they are mindful of events that have taken place around them. They keep silent secrets that will never be spoken.

Giampaolo Antoni is a 60-year-old Tuscan photographer who has been passionate about capturing moments in time for the past four decades. His love for photography started when he was twenty years old, and since then, he has been on a constant quest for landscapes, lights, and subjects that tell stories. Despite his many activities over the years, photography has remained a constant thread in Giampaolo’s life. He has spent years honing his craft, learning how to work with film and medium format cameras, and perfecting his printing techniques in the darkroom remained him to stay attached to the world of black and white through which he can find his best means of expression.
